David Viger
President & Chief Executive Officer
Joining MDC in 2004, David Viger embarked on a dynamic 20-year tenure with the Company, serving and excelling in many capacities. He started his career at MDC as an Assistant Superintendent and climbed the ranks to become Division President of Phoenix, and then Regional President of Arizona, Florida and Utah. Before his promotion to CEO, he held the position of Chief Operation Officer for five years. A retired lieutenant in the Navy, Mr. Viger earned a B.S. from the U.S. Naval Academy and previously played for the NFL.
Paul Peterson
Chief Operating Officer
Since joining MDC in 2015, Paul has leveraged his strategic vision to build on a decade of success. He started as the Division President for Utah, while also playing a key role in launching the Company’s Idaho division. In 2021, he was promoted to Regional President, overseeing operations across Utah and the Pacific Northwest. Before MDC, he served as Vice President of Sales & Marketing at DR Horton and Vice President of Land Acquisition and Development at Wright Homes. Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and an MBA from Brigham Young University (BYU).
Robert N. Martin
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Martin started his career in public accounting with the international accounting firm Arthur Andersen LLP. After joining MDC in 2002, he served the Company in a variety of leadership roles, including Vice President of Finance and Business Development and Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller, before his appointment to his current role of Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Principal Accounting Officer in May 2015. Mr. Martin has direct oversight over the Company's division and corporate accounting, division finance, tax, investor relations, treasury and finance, planning and analysis functions. Additionally, he serves on all three of the Company's asset management committees, which review and approve all new homebuilding projects and other significant company transactions. Mr. Martin also is an officer, director or both of many of the Company's subsidiaries. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and computer applications from the University of Notre Dame and is a Certified Public Accountant and CFA Charterholder.
Krista Montgomery
Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Krista Montgomery assumed the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer in March 2022 after serving the Company for 17 years in a variety of leadership roles, including Vice President of Human Resources. She has been an exemplary leader in executing upon the fundamentals of a best-in-class human resources organization, from developing organizational structures to hiring key leaders to implementing employee retention strategies. During her tenure leading the Human Resources department, the business more than doubled in size. Ms. Montgomery previously held human resources positions at Qwest Communications (now CenturyLink) and Vercuity and has a B.S. degree in Finance and Marketing from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
