M.D.C. Holdings, Inc. , whose subsidiaries build homes under the name "Richmond American Homes," today announced that Leonard Miller was named president of its Irvine division. Miller was promoted from his position as regional vice president of finance for the California region.

"As one of the top homebuilders in Southern California, Richmond American Homes has been able to increase our market share throughout the region over the past several years," said Liesel Cooper, president of national homebuilding operations for the western United States. "I'm confident that Leonard's industry knowledge, financial expertise and leadership skills will help us continue this tradition in Irvine."

Miller has made a significant contribution to Richmond American's growth in the California region since joining the Company earlier this year and brings more than 15 years of experience in the real estate industry to his new position. Prior to joining MDC, he served as vice president of finance at Newland Communities, one of the largest land developers in the country. Miller received his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from the University of Southern California and San Diego State University, respectively.

Richmond American Homes is one of the top ten homebuilders in Southern California and has more than 25 active housing communities, with several others planned. Current operations are based out of the Company's Los Angeles, Inland Empire, Irvine and San Diego divisions.
